Portugal’s domestic consumption of electricity was fully covered by renewable sources for 107 hours straight. During 107 consecutive hours, the whole country worked only with solar, hydro and wind energy.
Between 6:45 a.m. of May 7 (Saturday) until 17:45 on the 11 (Wednesday), Portugal reached an important goal and managed to supply the electrical network in the country without any carbon emissions.
Apart from the obvious environmental benefits, the economic impact was also positive since it reduced the need to import coal and oil.
